   | SESSION SPECIALS: Specials are a long term project/skill that campers work on for one hour each morning during each Session. This year Specials are a choice campers make when registering for camp so we may tailor the Special to your camper. We offer 4 unique specials to choose from each Session. Find out details of what each entails below and we always encourage trying something new!:
Session 1: May 28th - June 8th (Open 9-3 on Monday, May 28th for Memorial Day) Baseball / Gardening/ Architecture/ Commercial Acting BASEBALL: This is the perfect option for your sports fan! Wether your child has no experience swinging a bat or lives a breathes Baseball this is a fun way to engage you camper in the fundamentals of Baseball. Counselors will work on focus, stance, Balance, Mechanics, swinging, catching, throwing, sportsmand ship and team work. And of course Scrimmages to bring the practice all together. GARDENING: In Gardening, campers will learn about the different parts of a plant, work on our camp garden, and decorate a flower pot that they will take home. At the end of the two weeks we will make a pizza with herbs that we will grow. Gardening is great for campers that love to get their hands dirty! ARCHITECTURE:Campers that love to build, design and use their creativity will love this special. They will learn about famous architects, while using their techniques to create their very own building. Campers will be presenting their building that they construct, paint and add landscaping to the last Friday of session.
COMMERCIAL ACTING: If you have a camper that loves the lime light or needs to be brought out of their shell this is sure to please. Campers will get an opportunity to create and record their own commercial and get a copy to take home! Counselors will work with campers on public speaking techniques, acting mechanics, advertising fundamentals, script writing, videography and editing. (*Please note we do have a few spots for those only interested in behind the scenes objectives.) Session 2: June 11th - June 22nd Soccer / Art (portraits & details) / Woodworking (Chairs) / Photography (3rd -5th) SOCCER: This is great for current and future soccer entusiasts. Coach Bubba will be focusing on Dribbling, Kicking, Headers, Passing, Punting, Throw ins, positions, Goalie strategies, Balance, Control, Team Work and Sportsmanship. ART (PORTRAITS & DETAILS):CALLING ALL ARTIST! This will be a great special for campers that like to express themselves through art. Campers will enjoy a week full of sketching, painting, and praticing different techniques. The week will start off by creating an “identity box” and end the two weeks by completing a self portrait on canvas that they will take home. WOODWORKING (CHAIRS): If you have a crafty camper they will LOVE this special. We will be practicing our carpentry skills and ultimately making a FULL SIZE chair that they will deisgn, paint and take home. So if you want to make something orginal and you love using a hammer and nails, this special is designed for YOU! PHOTOGRAPHY: This Special is created especially for our rising 3rd - 5th graders. Students will get to work with digital SLRs and point and shoots to learn the fundamentals of photography and editing. We will focus on landscape aesthetics, capturing human motion and character, frame positioning, and creating a cohesive series. Campers will work on a Portfolio as well as Matte their best photo for all campers to view on the last Friday of this Session. Session 3: June 25th - July 6th (Open 9-3 on Wednesday, July 4th) Basketball / Cheer & Gymnastics / Comic Booking / Theater (Play)
CHEER & GYMNASTICS: Strechting, cheer jumps and (safe) stunts will be some of the few lessons that will be taught during this special. Our energenic counselors will have 10 days of complete fun planned for the cheerleader or gynast in your life. At the end of this session they will perform a cheer that you will be invited to attend! COMIC BOOKING: Does your camper love cartoons? Campers will learn the tricks and trades of cartooning during this special. Not only will they be learning how to draw comic book characters, but they will also be brushing up on their basic art skills. They will create their own story line, characters and will be taking home their VERY OWN COMIC BOOK! THEATER (WIZARD OF OZ): Calling Thespians of all skill levels! Students will get to audition for parts in the Wizard of Oz! All students signed up will have a part in the play and get to particpate, in acting lessons, rehersals, stage direction, set design and working with thier ensemble to learn lines. (*Please note we do have a few spots for those only interested in behind the scenes objectives.) Session 4: July 9th - July 20th All Sports / Dance (Pop & Hip Hop) / Science (Experiments) / Art (Crafting) ALL SPORTS: Perfect for those who dabble in all things sports! Students will use the fun of a variety of sports to work on the art of team work and sportsmanship. As well as improve over all balance, ball handling, concentration, passing and endurance. DANCE (POP & HIP HOP): If your camper can barely contain themselves when Black Eyes Peas or Beyonce or even Bruno Mars then this special will suit them to a tee. Campers of all skill levels will come together to choreograph a couple dances and then preform them on the last Friday of each Session. SCIENCE: This special is for a curious camper! Our experiments will include foods, dry ice, and tie dye! We will test our senses while using our brain to record data. All scientists will keep an experiment journal and bring home some experiments to show you at home! UNIQUE CRAFTING: This special will be different than our regular art activities. Campers will be completing UNIQUE projects that will engage their creative side. We will be doing all sorts of crafty things including creating jewlery and workign with Clay!
